dc.description.abstract The metaphor of the mirror is useful in describing the phenomenon that takes place when the smile or simillimum is administered to the ill patient, to initiate a healing process. This transformational event is explored through references to the organon of Hahnemannn and his concept of the power of the vital force compared with the power of the similar medicine in the promotion of healing. The relevance of the mirror metaphor to the healing process in general is explored in other fields with reference to Jungian psychology mythology and the bible among others. en_US
